Walking Through Words celebrates the art of storytelling through visual design.
In partnership with WHAM's Literary Arts Program, this unique exhibition invites published and self-published authors to showcase their book covers as framed artwork in the gallery.
Accepted authors will display their book cover alongside an author bio and book synopsis and will have the opportunity to offer their books for sale during the exhibition.
Important to know:

A.I.-generated artwork is not accepted

Accepted Submissions from the 2025 show are not eligible

Acceptance is juried and not guaranteed

Accepted authors will have their framed book cover poster displayed, along with their bio and synopsis.

A physical copy of each accepted book will be featured for sale in the gallery with sales managed by WHAM docents

Accepted authors may sell their books during the exhibition*
*WHAM retains 25% of all sales
How to Apply
Submission Requirements
Each author must complete the Author Application Form, which includes the following information for each submission:
● Author’s Full Name
● Pen Name (if applicable)
● Home Address
● Email Address
● Phone Number
● Book Title
● Genre
● Publisher Name
● Book Cover Illustrator
● Book Price
● Author Bio (max. 200 words)
● Book Synopsis or Inspiration (max. 200 words)
Image Requirements for the Book Cover
● File format: JPEG or PNG
● File size: 1 MB – 5 MB
● Resolution: 72 dpi
● File naming format:
FirstNameLastName__BookTitle.jpg
*Example: JohnSmith__TheABCBook.jpg
AFTER SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION:
We will notify you within five days if your submission has been accepted. Accepted authors will receive instructions for printing and framing their book cover poster, delivering their artwork, and preparing their books for the exhibition.
Display Requirements for Accepted Entries
Accepted authors must print their approved book cover as a framed display
● Professionally printed and framed
● Ready to hang with wire (no sawtooth hangers)
● Measures at least 16" × 20" and no larger than 36" × 36".
● These dimensions apply to the display poster only, not the physical book
