WHAM offers a community clay studio that offers a welcoming and inspiring environment for artists of all skill levels.

 

Located in the West Valley in Surprise, the WHAM Clay Studio is a vibrant pottery studio featuring a fully equipped clay facility, private artist studios, gallery space, and a gift shop.

​​

Whether you enjoy hand building, wheel throwing, glazing, or firing, you’ll find the tools, space, and creative community to support your artistic journey.

 

Classes are offered throughout the year for beginners and experienced artists alike.

 

​Clay Studio is open during regular business hours,

with extended evening hours on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.​

Visitors and inquiries are always welcome.

Members enjoy access to:

  • Pottery wheels and throwing tools

  • Hand-building equipment

  • Glaze and firing areas

  • Kilns for oxidation and reduction firings

  • Indoor and outdoor workspaces

  • Storage shelves for rent

  • Reduced prices for Workshops and firing fees

Membership & Studio Access

 

An annual membership fee of $50, along with a monthly clay studio fee of $20, gives members full access to the studio and its equipment.

The Glaze Room 

Artists can brush, dip, pour, or spray glazes using a wide selection of materials including:

   ~   Amaco glazes 

~   Coyote glazes   

~  Laguna powdered glazes 

~  Hand-mixed batch glazes    

Bisque and glaze firing fees are based on the size of each piece.

Kiln Facilities

 

WHAM proudly offers a variety of firing options, including:

- Two (2) electric Skutt 1027 Cone 6 kilns

- One (1) electric Skutt 818 Cone 10 kiln

- One (1) electric glass kiln

- One (1) gas downdraft Geil 802 fiber kiln

- One (1) gas updraft West Coast kiln

Firing service fees are based on the cubic measurement of your creations, bisque or glaze firing process, and membership status.

 

Both oxidation and reduction firings are available, allowing artists to experiment with a wide range of ceramic techniques and finishes.

Outdoor Courtyard & Workspace

 

Our shaded outdoor courtyard provides additional workspace and clean-up facilities, including:

Spray booth

Ultra-quiet air compressor

Work tables

Grinding wheel

Outdoor sinks

Plaster Casting

Reclaim clay barrel

 

It’s the perfect space for larger projects and finishing work.
