Artist Delite Koler

Coming from the state of Washington and the beauty of nature in that area, I experienced a lot  of inspiration from my surroundings. I have always loved art and have been blessed to have taken an interest in ceramics, watercolor, painting, oil painting, rock art and finally, fused glass, which became my favorite medium to work in. To create something that catches the light and creates beauty in your world -- that was my new passion.

I started my love of glass in 2005 after an artist friend of mine thought that it would be a good idea to take a class for fused glass and she wanted me to accompany her. That was the beginning of my journey into the art of glass. I continued with this while still working as a civil engineer in Seattle and tried to maintain that creativity while carrying on with my career. After finally retiring, I took a break from this art while dealing with my parents and their life issues. When they passed on, I decided to seek out a warmer climate where I could enjoy the outdoors, so I moved to Surprise, Arizona.

I had forgotten my passion for this medium until on a trip to Sante Fe, New Mexico. While visiting the galleries, I came upon such beautiful works of art in fused glass that I knew I had to restart that passion. I found myself at WHAM and started to make the items that bring me joy, and hopefully, bring joy to others as well. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to see someone fall in love with an item I have created and then take it home with them to become a part of their happiness.
