Past Projects
Bicentennial Park Mural
15705 N. Nash St. April - June 2012 In an effort to curb graffiti, the Surprise Police asked WHAM to design and paint a mural on a restroom facility in the original town site. On recommendation by the Arts and Cultural Commission, Mayor Wolcott and City Council approved funding for the project. Several WHAM members and high school students from the Dysart School District worked hard to complete the mural, which depicts the city's past, present, and future. The mural was unveiled during the Celebrating Roots event organized by Benevilla. |
Community For All Ages Tile Mural
July 11 - December 11, 2011 Located in Surprise's Lizard Run Park, the 30 foot tile mural depicts a desert landscape full of desert plants, animals, and a flowing wash. The mural was a cooperative effort between WHAM and Benevilla. More than 100 residents participated to complete the mural, which will be an integral part of the community garden at Benevilla. |
