Veterans & First responders Program ARt: A Path to Healing
Veterans in classes
Veteran's monument at goodyear baseball park
WHAM volunteer artists create a monument to our veterans.
WHAM is providing a professional art course to all veterans who apply, though it is mostly targeted at veterans with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
This program is FREE to the veteran and includes all art supplies, equipment, and a lunch for approximately 20 veterans at a time.
WHAM offers veterans classes in drawing, painting, clay sculpture, gourd making, mixed media and many other mediums.
The classes are instructed by WHAM's volunteer professional artists, along with an assistant volunteer.
There are 12 classes a year, one a month. Each class is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes a Free lunch.
Surprise Classes are held at WHAM Art Center on the second Monday of the month.
Peoria Classes are held the third Thursday of the Month, at the Peoria community center in Old Town Peoria.
The current program is going into its 3rd year with many original veterans continuing from when it first started. We have a goal of teaching creative writing in poetry in the future.
