Call to Artists

City of Surprise Recreation & Community Service hosted the “Ring of Fire” Beer, Art, Local Food festival supporting the Champions Series of Tennis featuring many celebrity tennis players on October 8th & 9th, 2011.

This event began on Saturday, Oct. 8th, gates opening at 12:00 noon for the public to enjoy sampling of Craft Beers that are brewed all along the Pacific Ocean’s “Ring of Fire”.   Local restaurants provided the food.   WHAM Art Association provided fabulous artwork and art demonstrations for the participants to stroll through and see how artists work.  

WHAM Art Association (What’s Happen’n Art Movement) had 5 tents side by side with exposure for the demonstrations at the front of the entry.   A mix of artwork was displayed from clay pottery, oil & acrylic painting, to ink drawings, fused glass, jewelry, wood lathed pins, and copper metal art created by eighteen WHAM members.   

Participation from the public was fantastic with an estimated over 2,000 visiting our Art Exhibit.  Sales were moderate but artists received a lot of positive feed-back for having the artwork at this event.  WHAM was very welcomed by all the City Staff who went out of their way to accommodate our needs.

We look forward to collaborating with Surprise Recreation & Community Services in the future to continue providing professional events for our community.
